LONDON, UK. June 25th, 2026 – Lodestar has announced the successful completion of an International Bilateral Fund (IBF) project funded by the UK Space Agency (UKSA), advancing autonomous space technologies to enable more resilient, responsive, and sustainable operations in an increasingly complex orbital environment.
The project was delivered in collaboration with The Exploration Company, a leading European spacecraft manufacturer developing reusable orbital transportation and servicing platforms. Named "Oracle of Nyx", the project reflects the ambition to equip Nyx with the eyes to autonomously detect, track and understand its orbital environment. The partnership explored future mission concepts for autonomous in-orbit operations, including how Lodestar’s perception capabilities and autonomous sensor payloads could support next-generation spacecraft such as The Exploration Company’s Nyx and Oura vehicles.
Through the project, Lodestar matured its autonomous perception capabilities, delivering simulation-validated performance for the detection, tracking and characterisation of uncooperative targets in orbit. The work established a foundation for future autonomous space operations, advancing critical technologies for the next generation of orbital missions.
